Carrots and peas

Carrots and peas

When Bell suggests they all thank the Lord, Humphrey says, "Carrots and peas, carrots and peas, and water chestnuts. Amen." The phrase "carrots and peas" (or "peas and carrots" for that matter) is often used when silent conversation is needed in a movie (or on TV) to give the appearance of real conversation.
