- The dream sequence in Cannibal! is a parody of/reference to the dream sequence in Oklahoma!
- The embrace between Alferd and Polly was likely modeled after the embrace of Curly and Laurey.
- "Probably the most important thing is that when things get really bad and the world looks its darkest, you just have to throw up your hands and say 'Well, alright!' cause it's probably gonna get a whole hell of a lot worse," is a line from Oklahoma!, except the last part is "things are gonna get better."
